Why You Should Replace Engine Oil
Regularly replacing your engine oil is critical for maintaining your vehicle's performance. Here’s how to do it yourself.
Gather Your Tools
You will need an oil filter, a wrench, a funnel, and your preferred engine oil. Make sure to also have a container for old oil.
Step 1: Prepare Your Vehicle
Park your car on a level surface, turn off the engine, and wait for it to cool. This ensures you won’t burn yourself during the process.
Step 2: Drain the Old Oil
Remove the drain plug and let the oil flow into your container. Replace the plug once all the oil is drained.
Step 3: Replace the Oil Filter
Remove the old oil filter and replace it with a new one. Ensure it’s securely in place to avoid leaks.
Step 4: Add New Oil
Using a funnel, pour the new oil into the engine. Check the level with the dipstick to ensure you have the correct amount.
